Ways to embed youtube videos to your blog:
- Claim your blog from youtube/ google video
(however it doesnt work for me......they said they cant validate my account...etc)
- Use html

Youtube:
- youtube is one of the most famous websites in the world now
- daily update (featured videos, director videos)
- allow members to upload videos
- allow members to enter comments
- members can embed videos to their blogs (myspace, blogger...etc)
- CSS provided for user
- we can send messages and share videos between users

Goggle video:
- organized, divided in different categories
- the video will be resize according to the size of your explorer
- some videos is just a preview, you need to pay if you want to see the whole thing
- search engine will lead you to youtube videos
- allow user to upload videos
- they do not have a large database as youtube to save all the videos

Things that made youtube so successful:
- First open sources for people to upload and share videos
- without limitations for user
- wikinomics: share technology, power, knowledge and resource through the internet with no limits
- 100% free
- you can find whatever you want there

How to save a youtube video to pc:
first you can go to http://www.youtubex.com/
paste the link from youtube, then they will ask you to download a file.
change the file format to .flv
then, download a free flv player
from now on, you can save and watch all you want from youtube
and watch it in your own computer!

Standard Quality trailers:
- small. although you chose the big one
- low definition... not high as HD
- buffer faster than HD

High Definition trailers:
- clear, high definition
- sometimes its slow to buffer if you choose the 1080(as the size is bigger)
- its big !!! with the 1080
- if you have a big monitor, you feel like you are watching a movie
- if you monitor is not big enough.. at least 20"
or the 1080 doesnt really fit to the screen

Ways to publish my list to the blog:
1) Use java/html code that they provided
2) Claim blog with 43things

It wasnt the first time for me to see the life2do list,
so i know what is it about, and how does it work.
and this time i find out more things that i want to do...

it was a surprise that people create this kind of websites,
because somehow i think no one will care about what
others want to do... :p
it is a good idea for life2do list,
because you can enter what you want to do,
and may be some detail about it ?!
then later on, if you done it,
there is an option for you to say you've done it,
and they ask you if you are willing to teach people
how you do it.

Moreover, blogs are popular now,
and they find a way to let more people know
about them, which is -
the site itself can connect to the blog...
there are serveral blogs that have connection
with 43things, so you can easily
tell people what you want to do,
and at the same time...
advertise it !!

The podcasts:

The first one, basically introduce the latest trends in the digital technology,
and criticize and comments on the products and systems.
Moreover they discuss which Bond is the best James Bond....
this is a long show, it takes an hour to listen.

The second one i chose is a Chinese Pod, it teaches you
some of the chinese character with audio and chinese pronounciation
and the differences between those similar words.
it is a good topic for teaching people Mandarin,
however it is not suitable for beginners,
because mostly they speak in Mandarin

The third one is the Disney Podcast,
in this episode, there is a girl named kiki to talk about
her experiences. it was a short podcast, however it contains
too many advertisment. it is only a 6 min show,
but there are about 6 advertisment advertising
the Disney Radio Podcast, which makes me think annoying.

PodCast Pros & Cons:

Pros:
- Free (Most of them)
- you can start whenever you want and stop whenever you want
- play back whenever you want to and without start from the beginning
- you can fast forward it, and rewind
- you can make it play slowly - everyone speak really slow
- RSS can be use to receive latest episode

Cons:
- you do not own a hard copy of the podcast
- if you do not have internet, you cant access to any podcast

Experience:
Personally, i do not enjoy it at all,
because i do not think its special,
it is like listening to radio,
but, they just have more topics...
like radio has more channels
it is not something that i would do again,
as i perfer magazines more than podcast.
for magazines, you have a copy of it,
and whenever you have a question,
you can open your magazine, and track it.
For Podcast, you will have to listen it
all over again unless you remember
when the information you need is from...
for example... (7minute 31sec to 7minute 58 sec is what you want)

Audio Book

The one i chose is Peter Pan

its a classic story for all of us...
i listen a sample from the site,
but there is one problem is,
when i listen, i dont know where
they actually start,
so i cant follow up the story...

The idea of Audio Book
the idea is good, especially for people that who are blind.
also it is an good idea for school,
like teacher plays the audio book to lower grade kids.
Kids always love stories !
There are a lot of audio books for reader to choose,
from different catergories...
(science fiction, arts and entertainment, newspaper and magazine, science and technology...etc)

Lab 5

The colr Pickr is fun,
after you pick a colour from the middle,
different pictures that related to that colour
will show up. For example i pick red, chili pepper comes up !

the second one is Word Spelling
it wasnt as interesting as the colr pickr,
once user enter what they want to spell,
the system automatically find out pictures that spell the word.
i tried to put in Carmen, and the pictures really come out
however, the pictures are not connected and related.
and they are in different font and style.
although you can click the picture to change to another letter...
but it wasnt really interest me at all...

the Flickr Vision
a site that connected to flickr
it shows picture from world wide
and the background is goggle map...
when i first look at it, it seems fun,
but later on when i find out i cannot choose
the location for the pictures...
and the flickr vision keep showing pictures
from everwhere... i started to get bore with it :(

Fastr is a tagging game.

however i feel dizzy after awhile....

Delicious...
have trouble with Links for you at the beginning...
but after reading the notes, i realize how to send links
to others.
this is another element that are user friendly,
they provide a html link rolls to let
user put it in your blog / websites...

by using delicious,
i found there are a lot of interest post,
such as how to use your free time...
how to send huge file... etc
i learn a lot from using delicious and from the post...

Lab 3

At first, its hard to find blogs from Technorati,
all i found are groups.... but finallly i found the top 100 blog list.
then i tried to go through them, and try to see which one im interested in.
tagging allows you to put tags on your post and blogs. So if you tag your blog with
"Funny", when other user search "funny" this word, your blog will come up in the list.

Tagging is a useful identification system,
because it allow user to search other's blog/ post easily.
user will know what the blog is about without reading all the posts.
however, some people may tag everything .... i mean, they use keywords that
even does not relate to his/ her blog and tries to attract more people to go there.
which is annoying.... :(

this is a blog that teach people how to customize "My Space"
they provide free layouts, and some other html codes that you can use in My Space.
i chose this one because i used to have a my space account,
but i seldom... :p
eveytime when i login,
i found there are a lot of beautiful layouts
and people put a lot of interesting things on it.
however i do not know how to do it, and im not familiar with the html code.
so i didint make anything special in my My Space account.
until now, i found that there is a blog to teach people how to,
so i would like to share it.

My Rss reader will be used by me more often from now on,
because it is the easiest way to read whats new from
the blog that i chose.
